Getting Started With Your Shamrock Card
- Who can get a Shamrock Card?
Shamrock Cards are issued to eligible full-time faculty and staff whose job responsibilities require business-related purchasing or travel, as determined by unit business managers and finance leadership. Spending limits and merchant restrictions may be applied based on departmental needs and University policy.
- The Shamrock Card is not a benefit of employment.
- The University may revoke card privileges at any time for non-compliance with policies or repeated late statement submissions.
- Exceptions to standard eligibility, such as students, part-time staff, or emeritus faculty members, may be considered on a case-by-case basis and require documented business justification and multi-level approval.
- Cards must only be used by the named cardholder and may not be shared.
- How do I apply for a Shamrock Card?
To apply for a Shamrock Card, complete the online application. The application requires approval from both your supervisor and the appropriate Business Manager or Finance Leadership.
A valid business purpose must be provided, and a University budget account, either unrestricted or restricted, must be designated as the default account for all transactions.
Issuance of a Shamrock Card is subject to eligibility requirements and final approval.
- Will applying for a Shamrock Card affect my personal credit?
No. The Shamrock Card is part of a company-billed, company-paid program, so it does not require a personal credit check and does not appear on your personal credit report.
All charges are billed directly to and paid by the University. Shamrock Card transactions are considered a direct use of University funds.
While the card does not impact your personal credit, you are responsible for reviewing, coding, and submitting your Shamrock Report in travelND/Concur in a timely manner. Failure to comply with policies or repeated late submissions may result in the University revoking your card privileges.
If you have additional questions, contact shamrockcard@nd.edu or 574-631-3388.
- Where can I find the Shamrock Card Policy?
The Shamrock Card Policy is available on the Office of the Controller’s website (controller.nd.edu) in the Resource Library.

Using Your Shamrock Card
- What billing address and phone number should I use for online purchases?
All Shamrock Cards are set up with a centralized University billing address. When prompted for the Billing Address, use:
University of Notre Dame
802 Grace Hall
Notre Dame, IN 46556The phone number associated with your card is your University phone number.
When completing an online purchase, be sure to enter the Shipping Address where the item should be delivered. Do not use the 802 Grace Hall billing address as the shipping address.
Using incorrect billing information may result in declined transactions.
- Can I add my Shamrock Card to Apple Wallet or other digital wallets?
While it is possible to add your Shamrock Card to Apple Wallet or other digital payment apps, this is not recommended.
Digital wallets and merchants often default to the last card used, which increases the risk of accidental personal charges. In addition, your Shamrock Card uses a centralized University billing address (802 Grace Hall), which may not align with the personal billing information stored in your digital wallet. This can lead to transaction issues or declined purchases.
Personal charges on the Shamrock Card require reimbursement and must be reconciled on your Shamrock Statement report in Concur, creating additional administrative work and potentially triggering internal review.
If you choose to add your card to a digital wallet, use caution and always confirm the correct card is selected before completing a transaction.
Statements & Expense Reporting
- Where can I view my Shamrock Card Statement?
Shamrock Cards are part of a company bill, company pay program, so you will not receive a statement directly from JPMorgan Chase.
Instead, all transactions are automatically imported into travelND/Concur. For each billing cycle with activity, travelND/Concur generates a Shamrock Report (e.g., “Shamrock Report 03/26 – 04/25”), which serves as your official monthly statement.
You are responsible for reviewing, coding, and submitting this report. Do not add or delete any transactions from your Shamrock Report in travelND/Concur.
If you have questions about a charge, contact shamrockcard@nd.edu.
- Do I have access to JPMorgan Chase PaymentNet?
No, Shamrock cardholders do not have access to JPMorgan Chase PaymentNet.
All transactions are automatically imported into travelND/Concur, where a Shamrock Report is generated for each billing cycle with activity. This report serves as your official statement and must be reviewed and submitted in travelND/Concur to ensure expenses are processed and paid.
Travel & Spending Limits
- How do spending limits and merchant access work on my Shamrock Card?
Spending limits and merchant access are set based on business needs and require approval from your Business Manager or Finance Leadership.
Requests for limit increases or additional merchant access, including travel, must be submitted by your Business Manager or an authorized Department Approver using the Shamrock Card Limit & Travel Access Request Form.

- Does my Shamrock Card include travel access?
